Green Key Eco-Rating Program

In today’s world, environmental and financial concerns have changed the way we do business. In keeping with these changes, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville hotel in downtown Vancouver has earned a 4 Green Key rating from the Hotel Association of Canada. The Green Key Eco-Rating Program is a graduated rating system designed to recognize hotels, motels and resorts that are committed to improving their environmental and fiscal performance.

Based on a comprehensive environmental self-assessment, hoteliers are awarded a 1 – 5 Green Key rating and provided with guidance on how to “unlock” opportunities to decrease environmental impacts and operating costs through reduced utility consumption, enhanced employee training, and strict supply chain management.

The Green Key Program assessed the five main operational areas of the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville, and covered nine areas of sustainable practices including:

 Operational Areas

 ü  Corporate Environmental Management

ü  Housekeeping

ü  Food & Beverage Operations

ü  Conference & Meeting Facilities

ü  Engineering

Sustainable Practices

 ü  Energy conservation

ü  Water conservation

In earning a 4 Green Key rating, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville has committed to being a hotel that takes meaningful steps to protect the environment. Strong environmental practices, comprehensive employee training, and studied engineering solutions have been implemented to the benefit of both the environment and the local community.

The Green Key Eco-Rating Program is the only program of its kind to conduct on-site inspections and validations of ratings in Canada and the United States.
