Bowling for Big Brothers

From March 1 – April 15, 2013 it is “back to the 80’s!” at the Commodore Lanes bowling alley on Granville   Street. The BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville hotel in downtown Vancouver has put together bowling teams, and will be taking part in the Scotiabank Bowl for Big Brothers Classic.

Dressed in retro fashions from the 1980’s like acid wash jeans, stirrup pants, and fingerless gloves, while listening to a soundtrack of ZZ Top, Van Halen, and Madonna, our teams will be part of one of Big Brothers top revenue generating activities.

Taking to the lanes to earn pledges for Big Brothers will be a lot of fun for a great cause. The Big Brothers organization is all about mentoring children through positive adult role models. The Big Brothers mentoring programs have proven to help kids in many ways. The mentor program has been shown to help youngsters develop higher self-esteem. This program is also a positive factor in keeping kids in school. Another plus, is that Big Brother mentored kids are found to be less likely to engage in bullying behavior.

The Bowling for Big Brothers Classic is more than just a fun bowling tournament. The bowlers participating in this tournament are raising funds that will go a long way in helping the Big Brothers organization help kids.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a charitable organization which matches adult volunteers to children needing adult mentoring.
