Christmas 2013 Charities
Christmas is a time of sharing and caring. Gifts, feasts, parties, and reunions are enjoyed by most everyone we know. But what about those people in our community who are less fortunate? What about those down and out on their luck? What about new immigrants to Canada, having escaped a troubled life somewhere else, and are now having a difficult time adapting to their new lives in Canada? For these less fortunate or struggling members of our community, Christmas charities really are a lifeline. Charities provide a chance for the less fortunate to feel a little bit more inclusive into the lifestyle that we ‘mainstream’ Canadians may sometimes take for granted.
At the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Vancouver, we care about the well-being of those without. That is why we are once again participating in the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family program for 2013. The staff will be participating with cash donations, which will be matched with cash donations by management. We will be sponsoring 2 families with these donations, a Christmas dinner, and gifts for the kids.
The old adage of ‘it’s better to give than to receive’ certainly holds true in the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family program. Just knowing that at least two families in need will wake up to a brighter Christmas, adds a value to Christmas that can only be measured by the good feeling it produces.
If you are staying with us over the Christmas season, you will notice a donation box under our lobby Christmas tree; standing beautifully decorated against our feature wall. You are invited to add to the donations, with which, we will be helping seniors in our neighbourhood through the “Downtown South Neighbourhood Helpers Project.” All donations collected will go to our neighbourhood seniors in need.
The Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family, and the Downtown South Neighbourhood Helpers Project programs are two ways that we here at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville Hotel and Conference Center, can give back to our community that has been so supportive to us for almost 40 years!
“It’s the extras that make us a PLUS!”
