Whole Grains for Whole Health – Granola!

It’s crunchy, nutty and oh so tasty! Homemade granola is perfect to carry along for a hike or picnic and acts as the ideal snack, packed with wholesome nuts!

Ingredients

• 3 cup steel cut oats

• 3 cup rolled oats

• 1.5 cup sliced almonds

• 1 cup sunflower seeds

• 1 tsp ground cinnamon

• 1/2 tsp kosher

• 1.5 cup clover honey

• 4 tbsp melted butter

• 1 cup dried blueberry

• 1 cup chopped dry apricot

• ½ cup dry currants

Method

– Using a convection oven at 325 F

-Mix in all the ingredients except dry fruits until the honey coats the ingredients thoroughly.

-Next, using a parchment sheet line your pan.

– You will then toast the granola in the oven for approximately 10 minutes in the pan.

– Next, remove the granola from the pan.

-Using a stainless steel bowl, mix the ingredients. This will break up any large pieces. You will then have to re-coat with honey.

-Return the granola to the oven and toast in 5 minute intervals, remixing each time, for approximately 10-15 more minutes.

-Cool the granola and toss in the fruit.
