Vancouver celebrates Chinese New Year!
In the Chinese zodiac, each lunar new year, which is celebrated by many Asian cultures, is associated with one of 12 animal signs. This year is the year of the sheep! With spring like weather, it really is the perfect week for Vancouver to welcome the Chinese New Year! Take a look at our list of Chinese New Year events taking place in Vancouver.
Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade 2015
Every year the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver organizes many cultural events over the year but the one event that attracts over 50,000 spectators is none other than the extravagant Chinese new year parade. The annual parade has been illuminating the city of Vancouver since 1979 and this year’s parade is said to bigger and better with over 3,000 performers, dancing through historic Chinatown!
The parade is a celebration not to be missed! You are bound to see vibrant lion dancers, colourful performances and a fusion of extreme Chinese culture. It is all taking place on February 22nd at 11am. Get ready for parade! Take a look at this year’s route!
Dr Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden
Named the “Canadian Garden Tourism Garden of the Year” in 2012. The Dr Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden provides a world class garden experience with a significant cultural heritage to local and international visitors. There have plenty of events taking place over the Chinese New Year, so go check it out!
Fly over Canada- Flight of the Dragon!
Are you looking to experience China? Why not take a ride with the flight of the dragon! Year of the Sheep International Village Celebrations!
