The History of Mariachi
Mariachi music has maintained its popularity for more than a century.Mariachi is a genre of music that originated in Guadalajara, in the State of Jalisco. The sounds of it’s oldest rhythms are rooted back to Mexico’s colonial times (1519-1810).
Usually mariachi consists of at least three violins, two trumpets, one Mexican guitar, one vihuela (a high pitched, five-string guitar) one guitarrón (a small-scaled acoustic bass) and occasionally a harp. The original mariachi were Mexican street musicians or buskers but have evolved into the best international performers.
