The big celebrations are coming up! We wanted to take a look at the fun events and festivities going on around the city during the summer 2017 for Canada 150.
In 2017, we celebrate 150 years of the Canadian Confederation.This is an opportunity to embrace all things Canadian. We will join together to commemorate the rich history that has been created in this relatively short space of time.
As a result, Canadians are being encouraged to forget the foreign vacations and discover new adventures closer to home, in order to join the party!
Since each province and big city, will partake in their own special celebrations, we’re focusing on Vancouver.
So what is in store for the next months? Here are some the events coming up in the city.
- From Far And Wide – O Canada – June 10th
Vancouver’s Vivaldi Chamber Choir will hold a concert in featuring the works of Canadian composers and arrangers to commemorate the rich choral history of the country. The concert will have special offerings from the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra
- A Gathering of Canoes in a Vancouver park – July 14th
This event will involve up to 5,000 canoe families and supporters gather at Vanier Park for the ceremony .
- A Walk for Reconciliation – September 24th
This event represents an opportunity to ‘walk together’ to find a new way forward.
- July 1st – Canada Day
Each year we enjoy fireworks at the celebration of light ceremony at English Bay. Three different countries will compete to be crowned the winner of the spectacular light show. A dazzling display of illuminations are a welcome addition to the celebrations.
- July 2nd – Canada 150 Parade
The Canada 150 Parade will take place at Canada place. The parade will celebrate all things Canadian including the culture, values and rich diversity. The Parade will highlight this diversity with various parade entries taking to the streets of downtown Vancouver.
