Free Vancouver Holiday Events

There are just nine more days to Christmas 2011 (December 25) and Vancouver’s biggest Christmas and Holiday attractions are already in full swing. But what about free things to do between now and the end of December? Yes, there’s the free ice skating at Robson Square (which runs through February 2012), but there are also five fun, free events happening around Vancouver that will get you in the seasonal spirit without touching your wallet.

5 Free Things to Do in Vancouver in December

1. Take a free horse-and-carriage ride around Vancouver’s Kerrisdale Village, see Santa, and be serenaded by a roving quartet at Christmas in Kerrisdale, on Saturdays through December 31.

2. Watch the Carol Ships sail by at the free North Vancouver Annual Carol Ship Celebrations along the shores of gorgeous Deep Cove on December 17.

3. Tour the neighbourhood lights of Vancouver’s Trinity Street and see private homes decked out in holiday splendour. Runs through January 3.

4. Enjoy live music, fire displays, lantern processions, and dance performances at the free Winter Solstice Lantern Festival on December 21.
