Vancouver’s Parks

vancouver parks

Vancouver’s public parks are a special part of our ‘super natural’ setting. Vancouver’s three largest and most popular parks are all located within easy reach of the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville.
Vancouver’s most famous park is Stanley Park. An evergreen oasis of 400 hectares (1,000 acres), Stanley Park is recognized as one of the great urban parks of the world, and is just a short distance across the downtown peninsula from the hotel! Its natural west coast atmosphere offers a back drop of majestic cedar, hemlock and fir trees that will transport you to a beautiful and relaxing place. The park is home to eagles, raccoons, coyotes and more. The natural setting will appeal to you, whether you love wildlife, plants, or just unwinding in beautiful surroundings. You can spend hours walking the well manicured trails amongst the flower beds. The Ted and Mary Greig Rhododendron Garden is a stunning collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. Every spring this wonderful garden is ablaze with spectacular blossoms. The Rose Garden takes center stage in June. You will quickly see why this beautifully kept collection of roses is a favourite place for wedding photos.

Queen Elizabeth Park is another Vancouver favourite. Here you will find gardens of rhododendrons, tulips, roses and many more in artfully terraced flower beds. Queen Elizabeth Park is the setting for some of the most beautiful public gardens you will see anywhere. The beautifully planted Quarry Gardens will astound you. Expertly arranged ornamental trees and shrubs make this a garden jewel. Queen Elizabeth Park is located only minutes from the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville, and can be easily reached by car or public transit.

VanDusen Botanical Gardens is truly a world class botanical garden. Here you will find an exotic collection of plants from around the world. This former golf course is home to an ever changing plethora of colours across 55 acres of rolling park. You will enjoy a staggering array of plants and flowers at VanDusen, where you can experience over 255,000 plants representing more than 7,300 species from around the world. You will find plant collections from South Africa, the Himalayas, the Canadian Arctic, and the Pacific  Northwest, each arranged in picturesque landscape settings.

Enhance your visit to Vancouver by visiting one of our truly exceptional public gardens, all so near the BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville. You’ll be glad you did.
